The Athletic Department sought a design for the PSU Vikings Haunted Homecoming game that balanced Halloween fun with football spirit. My concept was chosen, featuring skeletons in PSU Vikings uniforms, inspired by Disney’s The Skeleton Dance. I illustrated the skeletons in dynamic poses, switching player numbers to ‘23 to mark the game year.
Collaborating with the Athletic Department, I aligned the design to their feedback and budget. The final materials, including posters, stickers, and wall art prints, exceeded expectations, drawing over 250 attendees and surpassing their attendance goal.

My Process
I started by researching past football and Halloween-themed designs so my concept would stand out. I love Disney’s The Skeleton Dance, so I considered how football players might look if they as skeletons. I drew them in dynamic poses, focusing on movement and energy that felt both playful and powerful.
I incorporated PSU Vikings branding by replicating the uniforms, including helmets and jersey details, while keeping the design cohesive with the game year ‘23.
Using Adobe Illustrator, I refined the skeletons, paying close attention to how they would appear across different mediums like shirts, posters, and stickers. I experimented with line weights and textures to create an illustration that was detailed and versatile.
